UBER has launched in the Philippines to much fan fare. Their private car service is a great addition to the current transportation options and is a great way to travel.
Want to give it a try?…. FREE.
UBER has partnered with PayrollHero to provide free rides to punctual employees. All you have to do is consistently show up for work on time and you could win a free UBER ride.
For those that don’t know how UBER works, they are a technology company that provides an app to make it quick and easy to find a ride.
From their website; “UBER is evolving the way the world moves. By seamlessly connecting riders to drivers through our apps, we make cities more accessible, opening up more possibilities for riders and more business for drivers. From our founding in 2009 to our launches in over 70 cities today, Uber’s rapidly expanding global presence continues to bring people and their cities closer.”
My favorite features of UBER… emailed receipts with exact trip details, cashless (no need to argue with driver about his lack of change), slick app that lets you see where the vehicle is and a rating system so that you can provide feedback on the driver or vehicle.

There is this great feeling when you are happy to be at work because of your team and commitment to a company that somehow overrides the daily headaches and objectives before you. Those who have experienced this feeling of belonging to an organization can tell you how hard it is to leave a company to which they owe great friends, memories, experiences and lessons from. It all comes back to company culture and it’s incredible spill over benefits when things are right. You have seen it in the news and articles how big companies like Google, Zappos, Facebook, Mind Valley in Asia and several others have created incredible office spaces built to be true work paradises with an easygoing relaxed atmosphere. Companies strive to achieve this because they know it allows employees to be creative with great imaginative new measures and feeling comfortable at work has proven benefits. Recruiting talent is much easier in companies that offer more perks than just a benefits package.
Besides just having a great working environment, creating a community of close colleagues has incredible effects on the staff moral and job satisfaction. People have been proven to tolerate jobs they don’t enjoy simply because of the people they work with. In fact in a study done on “WorkForce Retention” by American Psychological Association, more than 56% percent of participants stated their connectivity to their organization and co workers as a reason for staying at their current job. With over 67% stating that the reason as their job fits in well with their life, you cannot ignore the importance of creating a great company atmosphere to engage and retain human talent. Here at PayrollHero we like to do activities together such as golf ranges, mountain biking, traveling and group meals on top of offering a ROWE (Results Only Work Environment) to attract great employees.
We designed our software to encourage a positive workforce and help brighten the moods of staff members from what used to be a mundane process to a fun and engaging way to be welcomed to work. Let us help change the environment at your business, feel free to contact us.
Ever notice that moment when you smile at someone and they instantly smile back, almost unknowingly – why is that? The reason is because humans react biologically. When you see someone smile it triggers the same neurons in the brain that react if you were to smile yourself. Years of research have shown that the simple act of smiling elevates both your mood and that of those around you. Your stress levels are reduced just by having a grin on your face no matter who is around which also lowers your heart rate levels after daunting tasks. The most incredible part is that these results are not only caused by being emotionally happy, your mood will still be elevated to the same extent even if you are faking a smile! The motion of creating a smile a few times a day real or fake is by far the easiest way to help improve moral in an office and consequently your health as well.
When we first started creating the concept that is PayrollHero, we wanted to improve the experience someone has coming to work and knew that this idea of elevating mood was important. We can all agree using a punch clock or time card can likely have a negative impact on your mood as it stands as a reminder of just starting a long day. If you could start your day with a smile and a tone that sets the pace for the rest of the day for you and your employees wouldn’t you try to? Our software is designed so you see all your colleagues smiling faces and goofy grins everyday to help create that desired effect of uplifting your mood and experience. We want to help elevate the happiness in your organization, check out our site PayrollHero.com to see more about our TeamClock and MyTimeClock that allow employees to clock in and out with just a picture and a better start to their day.

“When employees feel that the company takes their interest to heart, then the employees will take company interests to heart” Noelle C. Nelson from her book Make More Money by Making Your Employees Happy.
It seems that most companies have heard or been taught how happy employees save your company money but few have changed their regimens or implemented any real tactics to help. Looking at the statistic in the photo above however, you may place a bit more priority on the issue. Focusing on only the monetary benefits is eye opening but it is truly the qualitative benefits that derive from a happy workforce that stand out.
Making your employees happy by providing a quality work environment and dependable resources will improve productivity, engagement, results, idea creation and creativity. When I mention dependable resources I am also referring to pay. Arguably one of the most basic crucial requirements someone working has. Anyone who has been waiting on a company to receive a pay check that never seems dependable or always late can highly damage the loyalty an employee feels to their firm. We like to help eliminate this for our customers by creating a dependable payroll solution that ensures timeliness and abundant data that employees need like previous pay stubs, vacation hours, taxes, change of address and a schedule that is viewable anywhere in the world. You must improve your employees work life as much as possible; prove your company has compassion and is held accountable to your word and they will reward you with results. Your company will save money in productivity right before your eyes with a ramped up work force that feel a part of something. Take a look at PayrollHero.com to see how our platform and time attendance app TeamClock can help simplify your business and keep your valuable employees smiling everyday. We thrive on helping business owners learn more about their company to help grow it and improve work life for employees across the globe using PayrollHero.
We held this years Christmas dinner for the Whistler team last night and it was a great event. PayrollHero along with our officemates from RideBooker.com shared a meal, drinks, the famous Filipino Balut and some fun games. Here are a few pictures from the night;

More props are going to be added into the PayrollHero platform in the coming days. A prop, is a virtual item that shows up on the screen when you are clocking in. They are random, fun and will keep you smiling at the start and end of your day.
Want your company to be first to have props enabled? Comment below with why you should be first!
International Speaker Scott Friedman spoke at the Centre for Innovation, Change and Productivity today in Makati, Philippines at the InterContinental Hotel on the topic of “Employee Innovation in Turbulent Times”. Scott was kind enough to include PayrollHero in part of his keynote speech as to how companies can use our time, attendance, scheduling and payroll platform to built company culture and encourage happiness.
Scott focused on PayrollHero’s props within the TeamClock where our platform will add “props” to the screen so that when employees clock in and out, they might see a fun prop. He talked about how this has taken traditional clocking in and out from something that employees dreaded doing to something that they look forward to.

Ronald Maravilla, a native of the Philippines has been working with Mike Stephenson and myself since 2009. When Ron joined us it was for Ubertor, our real estate software company. When PayrollHero got off the ground a year and a half ago, Ron moved over to PayrollHero and joined as the second engineer building out the first stages of the platform.
Today is a big day!
Ron has been accepted into Canada under the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program and will be moving to our Whistler office as part of his #AdventureEngineering dream.
What is an #AdventureEngineer you ask? It is a term we coined as part of our offering to attract smart, hard working, talented enginners who wanted to work hard and play hard. This video sums it up:

PayrollHero has a unique position in the payroll space where we have a direct relationship with our clients’ employees. Most employees have no idea who their company uses to generate payroll. At PayrollHero, our clients’ employees have a direct relationship with PayrollHero, know our name, our logo and love interacting with the platform. I saw a tweet this afternoon from RedBox Manager Andrea McClimans talking about how much she will miss clocking clocking in and out via PayrollHero’s photo booth as she moves onto her next challenge in her career. Maybe PayrollHero will follow her there?
Do you want your employees to enjoy their clock in and out process? We would be happy to give you a personal demo of the PayrollHero platform anytime. Contact Us!
